ezbuy’s ezShip is one of the cheapest freight fowarding services that helps to forward your purchases to Singapore – here’s a step-by-step guide to follow!
In a time where our passports got frozen, we’re relegated to finding what we like on either Tinder Passport or online shopping. The bad thing about Tinder Passport is that what you like may not end up liking you back, but with online shopping, what you like doesn’t have the power to not like you back, so in a way, it’s a kind of unconditional love.
And you know what’s better than unconditional love? The unification between you and this love – whether it’s cheaper AirPods from Amazon US, cheaper A&F clothes from its US store, or simply beauty products that are cheaper than Sephora all year round (yes, I’m not lying!).
That’s why in addition to our Comgateway dummies guide and vPost dummies guide, I’m also putting together this dummies guide for ezShip – so that you’ll have a better informed decision when comparing freight forwarders in our Best US Freight Forwarders, Best China Freight Forwarders, and Best UK Freight Forwarders guide.
How Much Does ezShip Cost?
The rates vary between countries, but overall it’s one of the cheapest freight forwarding services around. Here are the prices of ezShip shipping per country:
Country | Rates | Duration |
USA | Economy: S$3.99 per 500g (actual) Standard: S$3.99 per 500g (actual/volumetric) | Economy: 8 – 11 days Standard: 4 – 6 days |
Taiwan | Economy: S$3.00 per 500g Food & Cosmetics: S$4.00 per 500g | Economy: 4 – 7 days Food & Cosmetics: 4 – 7 days |
China | Economy: S$1.69 per 500g Sensitive: S$4.99 per 500g | Economy: 4 – 8 days Sensitive: 6 – 9 days |
China | Sea Freight (Shanghai): • < 30kg: S$0.70 per 500g, S$30 cap • 30.01 – 80kg: S$30 (0.5m3) • 80.01 – 160kg: S$60 (1m3) • > 160.01kg: S$30 per 0.5m3 Sea Freight (Guangzhou): • < 30kg: S$0.70 per 500g, S$40 cap • 30.01 – 80kg: S$40 (0.5m3) • 80.01 – 160kg: S$80 (1m3) • > 160.01kg: S$40 per 0.5m3 | Sea Freight: 8 – 15 days |
Do you notice a pattern here? ezShip has no base charge, unlike most freight forwarders. If you buy something that’s less than 500g from China, you only pay S$1.69 for its shipping rates!
Also, by using ezShip for US parcels, you get:
- Charged by actual weight, unless you want express shipping
- Free repacking and consolidation
- Free compensation of up to S$100 even if you didn’t buy their insurance
This already sounds sweeter than your prospective Tinder Passport date. They could NEVER.
Wait, Should I Ship My Taobao Items With Taobao or With ezShip?
For all intents and purposes, we’ll be using Taobao to illustrate because it’s truly a shopping haven. 😍 If you haven’t hopped on the Taobao train, follow our comprehensive step-by-step Taobao guides to get started!
And to answer the age-old question: Yes, you can stick to Taobao’s consolidated shipping for your Taobao purchases because it’s really convenient. However, for items that don’t qualify for international shipping or it’s really bulky like these affordable Muji-style furniture, you can rely on ezShip to forward them to Singapore.
How Do I Ship With ezShip?
Using ezShip to ship your items is a 3-phase process:
- Get your ezShip China address
- Paste your ezShip address into Taobao
- Submit your Taobao order details to ezShip
1. Get Your ezShip China Address
Okay first up, head to your ezbuy app and navigate to the “Mine” section on your homepage. You’ll be greeted by a cleaner and more legible set of icons (shame they aren’t bigger, I almost missed the ezShip icon) and head to ezShip, where you’ll be able to find your China shipping address.
Here, you can retrieve your China shipping address. There’s actually two addresses – one in Shanghai and the other in Guangzhou – but depending on which one you choose, you pay a little more or less when using Sea Freight. As for Air Freight, the cost is the same. What’s good about this is that you can just copy it line by line with the buttons provided, and paste it into your Taobao account.
2. Pasting ezShip Address into Taobao
Now, it’s time to input the address on Taobao. The process is largely the same as the ezship process, just that everything is in Mandarin, so make sure to follow the visuals!
Protip: If you’re toggling between desktop and mobile app for either ezbuy or Taobao, you can use the “Saved Messages” function on Telegram to copy the address and send it to yourself. Plus, you can join our Telegram channel for the latest deals and hacks!
Now that your ezShip address is saved, you can start going on your Taobao shopping spree for bulky items like furniture and items that don’t ship to Singapore!
3. Submit Your Order Details to ezShip
Once you’re done with your Taobao retail therapy and placed all your orders, go back to the ezShip section in your ezbuy app. Click on “Submit New Order” so that ezShip can look out for your order when it arrives.
Then, you have to input your order number and parcel tracking number. This is the most important thing to do! Leave the default option of Taobao/Tmall by itself, since we’re shopping from there.
As mentioned above, select the correct warehouse (Guangzhou or Shanghai) that you’ve pasted the address from. Also, if you opt for the value added service of “Take Photos” for just S$1 extra per package, you’ll receive photos of your package when it arrives at the ezShip warehouse. This is great in case you’re annoyed at your Tinder Passport match and would rather see a picture of your darling package instead.
When you’re all done, hit “Submit”!
Twiddle Your Thumbs While You Wait For Your Package…
… and thank the Taobao gods for helping you to save a bunch of money with their affordable products. What bulky items do you usually buy from Taobao? Do you have a favourite furniture store on Taobao? Let us know in the comments below and shoot us a note at editorial@you.co – we might just feature them!
With that in mind, make sure to use your YouTrip card to utilise YouTrip’s Wholesale Exchange Rates when buying on Taobao, because paying in Chinese Yuan (CNY) can be cheaper than Singapore Dollars (SGD), and here’s a guide on how you can pay in CNY on Taobao too. Happy shopping! 🛍
