These Airlines Will Resume Flights From June 2020

As countries begin to ease travel restrictions, these popular airlines are also resuming limited international flights out of Singapore in the coming months!

We’re all aware that the world is changing rapidly as we get used to the “new normal” of living with COVID-19. While it seems that it was only recently when we were all scrambling with refunds and cancellations for our flights, hotels, and travel insurance – we’re now beginning to hear words like ‘travel bubble’ and ‘fast lane’ travel.

If that’s pricked your ears, it’s also pricked the ears of several airlines. In response to this gradual opening of our borders, some airlines are even beginning to schedule flights out of Singapore. Here’s a summary of popular airlines and their upcoming re-opened flight routes:

Important: Keep in mind that most countries still aren’t letting foreign nationals in at the moment. This means that even if these airlines have opened up their flight routes, you still may not be able to enter the respective countries, unless you’re a citizen or residing there. Which Airlines are Resuming Flights Out of Singapore?

1) Air France

Air France is slated to start operating flights to 150 locations within their current network. In the coming months, you’ll be able to fly from Singapore to Paris on Air France. Make sure you keep an eye on France’s travel restrictions for any changes that will allow Singaporeans in. Unfortunately, a flight schedule has yet to be released.

Restrictions Air France has in place: Wearing a mask in mandatory on all Air France flights. For more information, you can refer to the full list of Air France COVID-19 measures.

2) British Airways

British Airways has commenced flights from Singapore. They have yet to publish a flight schedule, although flights from Singapore to London are currently running every other day. You can refer to the Entering The UK page on gov.uk for more information on travelling to the United Kingdom.

Restrictions British Airways has in place: Like almost every airline, you have to wear a mask for the duration of your flight. You’ll also need to check in via the British Airways app, or online. 3) Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific is one of the first few airlines to announce longer haul flights departing from Singapore. Cathay has yet to release a complete schedule of their flight dates to all their destinations, though you can check the tentative dates on the Cathay Pacific website to check the availability of flights to your destinations. Below are a few flights that are scheduled to depart from Singapore in the coming months.

Restrictions that Cathay Pacific have in place: If you present with any COVID-19 symptoms, you’ll be denied the opportunity to board your flight. It’s also mandatory to make a health declaration before boarding, as well as to wear a face covering during every part of your flight. 4) Emirates

Emirates will be flying from Singapore to Dubai from 7 July, 2020, with the United Arab Emirates beginning to receive tourists.

Restrictions Emirates has in place: Masks, glove and hand sanitisers will be provided flights to Dubai. You’ll have to wear your mask at all times while flying. In order to find out more about Emirates’ measures at their Your Safety page.

5) Japan Airlines (JAL)

Japan Airlines is now operating several flights from Singapore – to Japan, of course. These flights are slated to run regularly on a weekly basis, so keep an eye out for any changes on Japan’s travel policy to see if they’ll allow Singaporeans in anytime soon. While they don’t have a flight schedule with specific dates, you can check out the full list of Japan Airlines flights.

Restrictions that Japan Airlines have in place: You’ll be required to wear a face mask for the duration of your flight, and seat booking will be reduced on most flights to accommodate the need for social distancing. In addition, you’ll also need use the online check-in in advance, so as to minimise contact. You can find out more on the Japan Airlines COVID-19 measures page.

6) Jetstar

Jetstar has resumed operating several regional flights on a weekly bases, although they don’t offer a complete flight schedule with dates. It seems that Jetstar has suspended flights till 31st July, 2020. Flights currently running are only for citizens/residents returning to their home country. You can refer to the partial flight schedule on Jetstar’s website for more information.

Restrictions that Jetstar have in place: All of your inflight meals and snacks have been suspended. Of course, you’ll have to wear a mask for the full duration of your flight too. To find out more, you can refer to Jetstar’s COVID-19 travel alert.

7) Korean Air

Korean Air is joining the ranks of airlines operating flights out of Changi Airport. The available flights will only operate between Singapore and Incheon Airport. While South Korea isn’t currently allowing foreign nationals, make sure you keep an eye out for any changes to South Korea’s immigration policy. There isn’t a full schedule with specific flight dates, but you can refer to the tentative flight schedule on Korean Air’s website.

Restrictions that Korean Air have in place: Like almost every airline, you’ll need to wear a face mask for the whole flight with Korean Air. 8) Scoot

Scoot is planning to operate several flights out of Singapore in the coming months. While these countries don’t currently allow foreign nationals into the country, fingers crossed that will change in the near future. Restrictions that Scoot have in place: Scoot will be conducting temperature checks before boarding, and passengers with a temperature of 37.5 degrees and above will not be allowed on board. In addition, you can no longer choose your own seats – you’ll be assigned instead. 9) Singapore Airlines (SQ)

Singapore Airlines is finally making their foray back into air travel! Although the current flight volumes are significantly lower than they used to be, flights departing from Singapore are gradually resuming. Singapore Airlines also has a full flight schedule available for your perusal. Below are a few popular upcoming flight routes departing from Singapore.

Restrictions that Singapore Airlines have in place: Singapore Airlines has “seating zones” that you’ll be confined to for the duration of your flight. They’ll also provide a care kit containing a face mask, hand sanitiser, and anti bacterial wipes.
