海边走走 (HiWalk) egg rolls are one of Taiwan’s most popular souvenir snacks and it’s now available for Singapore shipping – but is it any good? We’ll find out!
From award-winning rice crackers and legendary taro pastry to their homegrown “Muji-style” lifestyle store, it’s amazing that some of Taiwan’s best goodies can be delivered to my doorstep with ease.
When I found out that my favourite 海边走走 (HiWalk) Taiwan egg rolls provided international shipping services to Singapore, I almost screamed!! It’s one of Taiwan’s most famous souvenir snacks and it’s highly-raved by the local celebrities and media.
I wasted no time in ordering these delicious handmade egg rolls, and here’s a review of 海边走走 (HiWalk) and its international shipping services.
How Long Did 海边走走 (HiWalk) Shipping Take?
I don’t say this often, but I was utterly shook by how fast this package from 海边走走 (HiWalk) came. I made my order on 13 July 2020, and it arrived on 16 July 2020. This package of goodies took only three days to get to me, all the way from Taiwan. If there was an award for “Fastest International Shipping”, this would win it. The best part? Minimum spend for free shipping is only RM199 (~S$64.70).
Of course, the most important thing when receiving a delivery is making sure everything reaches you in one piece. 海边走走 (HiWalk)’s delivery is no exception – not a single egg roll was broken on the way!
What Did I Get From 海边走走 (HiWalk)?
海边走走 (HiWalk) Snacks | Price |
海边走走 (HiWalk) Peanut Egg Rolls | RM79 (~S$25.70) |
海边走走 (HiWalk) Pork Floss Egg Rolls | RM79 (~S$25.70) |
海边走走 (HiWalk) Chocolate Mille Feuille | RM82 (~S$27.70) |
With a ton of different snacks, I decided to stick to the classics. I ordered two of their best sellers, the 海边走走 (HiWalk) Peanut Egg Rolls and Pork Floss Egg Rolls. Of course, just to mix things up, I also ordered the 海边走走 (HiWalk) Chocolate Mille Feuille too, because I didn’t get to try that while I was in Taipei.
海边走走 (HiWalk) Peanut Egg Rolls: Crunchy, Textured & Creamy
To sum it up, these 海边走走 (HiWalk) Peanut Egg Rolls are extremely satisfying. The egg roll portion is crunchy but melts in your mouth, and the peanut butter-like filling is creamy, but with texture.
It’s a great contrast, and a subtle reminder that their peanut filling is made with real peanuts. Given that the combination of the egg roll and peanut butter could be a little dry, it’s actually the perfect tea time snack.
海边走走 (HiWalk) Pork Floss Egg Rolls: Fragrant, Savoury & Light
Unfortunately, this 海边走走 (HiWalk) Pork Floss Egg Roll review won’t be to my taste buds. Instead, I’ll have to rely on my family members, since I don’t eat pork. According to my mum, she says the egg roll is “really crunchy”, and the anchor butter incorporated into the egg roll itself was delicious and decadent.
Regarding the chock-full pork floss, my family says its fragrant, and balances well with the taste of the egg roll. If you’re in the mood for a light, savoury treat, it doesn’t get any better than this.
海边走走(HiWalk) Chocolate Mille Feuille: More Like Cookies & Cream
海边走走 (HiWalk)’s Chocolate Mille Feuille isn’t so much a chocolate pastry, as much as it is a cookies and cream flavoured nougat. Don’t get me wrong, it’s delicious! But I definitely wouldn’t call this a Mille Feuille, at least.
Chewy, delicious, and, as promised, not too sweet. When you’re in the mood for a guilt-free sweet treat, this Chocolate Mille Feuille hits the spot.
海边走走 (HiWalk) Review Verdict: Egg Rolls are Worth the Hype
It might seem a little steep to pay about S$65 for a bunch of egg rolls, but trust me, 海边走走 (HiWalk) is worth the money for both their quality and quantity.
The peanut and pork floss egg rolls were well-liked by myself and my family members – it’s easy to see why they’re the best sellers. However, I wasn’t too impressed with the Chocolate Mille Feuille; it tasted more like cookies and cream flavoured nougats, but if that’s your thing and you want something sweet and guilt-free, go for it!
