What’s So Special About 小日子 (One Day)?
小日子 (One Day) is a simple, aesthetic lifestyle and homeware store that’s homegrown in Taiwan. You’re probably wondering what kind of name “One Day” is. I did too, if I’m honest. The term “小日子”actually translates to “little day” in Mandarin.
It’s a colloquial term used to describe a simple and cosy life, especially for young couples who recently got married. 小日子 (One Day) started off as a print magazine in 2012, and opened a couple of retail lifestyle stores across Taiwan throughout the years. As they gradually moved to digital as an online magazine, 小日子 (One Day) also created their e-commerce store.
In their “關於小日子” (About) page, there’s even a listing of their very own noodle house right outside Zhongshan Station, which is in the heart of Taipei city. 😍 On top of my best restaurants to eat in Taipei, you can bet that this noodle house is going into my Taipei itinerary too!
Why Do I Love 小日子 (One Day) Taiwan?
小日子 (One Day) carries… well, almost everything. They’ve got a huge range of products: stationary, plates, clothing, and even candles. Kind of like Muji, but way cuter.
If you’re heavy into Muji-style style, or you’re just looking for some unique products to shake things up, you’ll love what 小日子 (One Day) has to offer. Below, I’m going to share some of my favourites.
To browse 小日子’s (One Day) products, go to the “小日子線上購物” (One Day online shopping) tab on their homepage. You may also notice a “海外賣場” (overseas marketplace) in the drop down, those are actually a subset of products that are available for international shipping, including Singapore. At the time of writing, there’s a total of 347 products, of which 68 are re-listed in their overseas marketplace.
This means that if you’re getting any of the 68 products, you can take advantage of their international shipping. But if you want that exclusivity from the majority of… (quick maffs) 279 products that are only available within Taiwan, you can actually use a freight forwarder to help you forward those items to Singapore easily. We’ve got a dummies guide for Taiwan online shopping to guide you step-by-step through Taiwan forwarding, so no worries about that!
My Favourite Products From 小日子 (One Day) Taiwan
1. Portable Perfume
One of the things I miss the most about going out is my ritual of wearing perfume just before I leave the house. Also, I know this is kind of controversial, but I love buying fragrance online because I love being surprised when I finally get to smell it! The One Day portable perfumes (NT$440/~S$20.40) come in five different scents and are pretty small, so they’ll fit nicely into your bag.
2. Tote Bags
Tote bags are a staple in my life, and they probably are for you too. They fit everything, go with any outfit, and most importantly – very roomy. This One Day tote bag (NT$349/~S$16.40) is especially cute: it features a cat illustration, and a super useful pocket on the front to stuff your essentials. Practical and cute – it’s a win-win in my opinion.
3. Enamel Pins
Enamel pins are one of my favourite ways to decorate my tote bags, or denim jackets even. And these One Day enamel pins (NT$120/~S$5.70) are no exception. They come in three different designs – best believe that I’ve already added all into my cart!
4. Iron On Patches
Little doggy iron on patches – do I really need to say more? It’s pretty hard to come across cute iron on patches, so these One Day iron on patches (NT$220/~S$10.40) immediately caught my eye. You can affix them to your tote bag or cap, and turn it from basic to adorable.
5. Scented Candles
Candles hold a kind of transformative power – they send the message that you’ve put a certain amount of effort into your home. If you’re looking for a unique candle most people won’t have, these One Day scented candles (NT$880/~S$41.40) are a great alternative.
6. Handy Pouch
Pouches are great for more than just your spare change. I use mine to store my keys, earphones, and even knick-knacks like lip balm and travel-sized perfume. If you’re looking for a simple pouch that still looks cute, these One Day handy pouch (NT$104/~S$4.90) is worth considering.
7. A5 Envelope Clutch
Something about graphic food prints makes me very happy. It’s so cute – because it’s food, but small. I know it doesn’t make much sense. I just know that this One Day A5 envelope clutch (NT$200/~S$9.40) in a bread print makes me really, really happy. Also, it’s super handy for the slightly bulkier daily essentials you need to toss into your bag!
