What Are Petrol Holding Fees?

Petrol holding fees are temporary charges that are placed on your YouTrip card when paying for petrol. Its sole purpose is to ensure that you have a sufficient amount of funds available in your account to be able to pay for the petrol you’re about to pump.
As the petrol station has no way of knowing you much you’ll pump and doesn’t want to risk the possibility of you pumping more petrol than you can afford, it places a temporary hold on your account for an amount that’s a tad higher than the average cost of filling up a car’s petrol tank
Does This Mean I’ll Be Charged Twice For Petrol If I See Two Transactions On My YouTrip Card?
No, you won’t be charged twice for petrol! This pre-authorised transaction is just a temporary hold on your account. The actual charge for the petrol will be processed once you have finished pumping, and this will replace the pre-authorisation transaction on your account.

How Long Do Petrol Holding Fees Last?
This holding fee will typically be credited back into your account within three to five working days, depending on the petrol station you’re pumping at. Some petrol stations release the hold as soon as the payment has been processed, while others might take a few days to release it.
