1. Honest Mistake

As its name indicates, this bar has one mantra and one mantra only and that’s — not all mistakes are bad. And we wholeheartedly agree. Don’t be fooled by its simple exterior because behind that Chinese pawnshop front is a time capsule that’ll transport you back into the 1920s and into Shanghai.
After obtaining a key from the hostess, head to the third floor and into the world of the Shanghai Mafia. Think old-school Chinese casino with mahjong tables, poker games, and red neon Chinese signs. Need a little fresh air? Climb to the fourth floor and onto an outdoor deck luxury lounge that’s perfect for catching a breather.
Here at Honest Mistake, you can’t miss out on trying their signature JuJube cocktail — a combination of sous-vide-dried Jujube, Chinese wolfberry, mushroom, and bourbon. As well as their smooth and creamy Chinatown cocktail which combines vodka, chestnut syrup, egg white, and aromatic lemon Chartreuse. Even your classic Gin and Tonic is jazzed up with Chinese herbs and traditional Chinese brandy to give it a little kick! Talk about keeping with the theme.
Opening Hours: Daily, 7 PM – 12 AM
Address: 488 Phahonyothin Road, Samsen Nai, Phaya Thai, Bangkok 10400, Thailand

2. Find The Locker Room

Now, this is a speakeasy. Hard to locate in Thonglor and tucked behind a set of nondescript lockers, you’ll be surprised to find that this won’t be your only obstacle. But once you finally make your way through, you’ll discover a dimly lit bar serving cocktails with a twist.
Titled “Past, Present, and Future”, this watering hole elevates its menu of classic cocktails and brings it to a whole new level. The typical Bloody Mary is transformed into a refreshing Harakiri, infusing fresh tomato juice with vodka, umeshu, green tea, and fresh lemon juice. It’s then transformed once again into a Bloodless Maria which uses dried tomato, tequila, mezcal, and mirin, showcasing their rendition of the past, present, and future.
Opening Hours: Daily, 6 PM – 1:30 AM
Address: 406 Thong Lo Rd, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110, Thailand
Price Range: $$$

3. Shuushuu.hiddenplace

This cheeky hole-in-the-wall spot doesn’t just wear pink on Wednesdays, it’s swimming in it all year long! With its vintage pink chairs made using acrylic boards and a bar countertop made from plastic trash such as shampoo bottles and bottle caps, this spot can only be described in one word and that’s — ‘funky’. But the true highlight of Shuushuu.hiddenplace undoubtedly lies in its umeshu selection. In fact, it’s the only thing they serve so you just know it’s got to be good.
Try their 101 for a sweet and sour umeshu from the Wakayama prefecture — a drink that’s ideal for beginners. Prefer something a little boozier? Go for their 420 — an intense aromatic umeshu from Nakano that combines premium plum with Japanese green tea! And if you really want to end the night off floating on a cloud, give their 1543 a taste. It’s the strongest drink in the bar with 18% alcohol and is named after the Thai Expressway Authority’s hotline for a reason. 👀
Opening Hours: Thursdays to Sundays, 7 PM – 12 AM
Address: 80 Soi Ram Maitri, Pom Prap, ป้อมปราบ Bangkok 10100, Thailand
Price Range: $$$

And whether you’re unwinding from your day of excitement with a drink or two or admiring the beautiful sunset, you can always count on Tichuca Rooftop Bar for the best view of the city. So if you’re looking to have a ‘wild time’, it’s safe to say you’ve found your haunt.

5. Q&A Bar

Burrowed in a little alley on Sukhumvit Soi 21, this speakeasy’s designed to look like a vintage train carriage. Think candlelit dark wood and leather. If you love the classics, this one’s for you. Keeping things interesting by adding a twist to their cocktails using infusion and smoke, the Comte De Monte Cristo is a hot favourite with its nutty port-infused wine with notes of Ethiopian coffee and toasted pecan, Amaro Montenegro, and Diplomatico Exclusiva 12-year-old rum. Or have a go at the Pinkish — a Negroni mixed with homemade rhubarb and grapefruit gin.
It’s never too late to start (or end) your night right here at Q&A bar for a train ride you won’t forget.
Opening Hours: Tuesdays to Saturdays, 7 PM – 2 AM
Address: 235/13 Soi Sukhumvit 21, Khlong Toei Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110, Thailand

Want to feel like you’re in Tokyo without actually being there? Sukhumvit 39 is the street to be for those Japanese back alley vibes. And hidden along that alley is a posh Japanese bar. Hint: Keep your eyes peeled for a simple dark brick wall along the corner of the street. A little tougher to find than most, this spot lacks a signboard and looks just like a Japanese house, so happy hunting!
Adorned with Japanese art and decor to fit the theme of the street, must-try at this watering hole include the Rosemary Tonic which contains rosemary gin, kiwi juice, lime, and elderflower tonic. As well as their Old Fashioned that’s made with Suntory Chita, Japanese brown sugar syrup, homemade green tea bitters, apple, orange, grape and rose garnishes, and a splash of cinnamon.
