1. Tokyo Disneyland

As the first Disney theme park outside of the United States, I’m sure the happiest place on Earth needs no introduction. Modelled after the California Disneyland and Magic Kingdom in Florida, Tokyo Disneyland is made up of seven themed lands (i.e. World Bazaar, Tomorrowland, Toontown, Fantasyland, Critter Country, Westernland, Adventureland) for kids and the young at heart.
Watch magical moments come to life as you set your eyes on Cinderella’s iconic castle and meet different characters from your favourite Disney movies. With just a five-minute walk from JR Maihama Station, travellers can find that getting to this world-famous attraction is a literal walk in the park.

2. Sanrio Puroland

With over 1.5 million visitors a year, visiting Tokyo’s signature theme park is a definite must! True to its name, Sanrio Puroland allows visitors to meet their favourite Sanrio characters and be immersed in the incredible pink world of Hello Kitty.
Explore different themed attractions such as Gudetama, Twinkle Star, Lady Kitty House, My Melody Ride, and the Sanrio Character Boat Ride as you tour the cutest theme park ever. There are even delectable treats inspired by the characters offered by the Sanrio Rainbow World Restaurant.

3. Yomiuriland

Known to be one of the most picturesque theme parks in Tokyo, Yomiuriland is the biggest amusement park that offers cherry blossoms when in season. While most theme parks target kids and teens, Yomiuriland aims to ensure that the older generations get a great experience as well.
The main event happens at nightfall when little bulbs of light begin to illuminate every inch of the park. With the largest illumination in the region of Kanto, Jewellumination is bound to knock your socks off as you experience different aspects of the amusement park day and night.

4. Tokyo Dome City

Formerly known as Korakuen, sitting at the centre of this Tokyo Dome City amusement park is the baseball park Tokyo Dome. With an ultra-modern section, LaQua, the park also comprises a shopping centre, restaurants, the world’s first spokeless Ferris wheel, and a hot mineral bath theme park.
As a smaller theme park, this place does not have any admission fees but instead charges entry for every attraction. Take a ride on Thunder Dolphin — a powerful roller coaster that goes through the centre of the Ferris wheel. Or enjoy a free fountain show at Water Symphony! Trust us when we say this is the best park for cooling off from a hot Japanese summer.

5. Joypolis

6. Tokyo DisneySea

Catered more towards the adults, the marine-themed Disney branch offers visitors a chance to experience the happiest place on Earth with an aquatic twist. Ride a Venetian gondola to various attractions, such as the Indiana Jones Adventure, a thrilling high-speed ride through the Temple of the Crystal Skull, enjoy a magical ride around London and Neverland on Peter Pan’s Flight, and embark on a rollercoaster journey loaded with thrill, bumps, and drops with a Journey to the Centre of the Earth!
Of course, families with kids are more than welcome to visit Tokyo DisneySea! With multiple kid-friendly rides to entertain your little ones, parents can kick back and enjoy a myriad of readily-available cocktails at most counter and table service restaurants. 7. Legoland Discovery Center Tokyo

As the smaller version of the Legoland amusement park, the Legoland Discovery Center Tokyo is great for families with younger children who can’t afford to burn a whole day at a theme park but still want to experience the fun and joy of it.
Once you enter, take a lift up to the Lego Factory to begin your journey! Kids can learn how Lego bricks are made and test out their engineering skills at several stations. Although the area might seem small, there are a few rides located within the premises that are suitable for toddlers such as the Kindom Quest Laser Ride and Chariots. Finally, end your day off with a shopping spree for yourselves and your young ones at the Lego store where there are special offers every month on Lego sets.

8. Harry Potter Studio Tour

While this theme park will be opening in the first half of 2023, Potterheads can rejoice as the new magical Harry Potter Studio Tour will whisk you off to your wildest Hogwarts dreams. Resembling the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London, this facility will not have any rides or attractions like at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Instead, the area will cover breathtaking production sets, actual film props, costumes, and more! For the avid Harry Potter fanatic, this is the ultimate dream as visitors will be allowed to go on a unique behind-the-scenes tour where they can explore iconic locations from the films such as Diagon Alley, Gringotts Wizarding Bank, Dumbledore’s Office, and the Hogwarts’ Great Hall!
Although not a lot of details have been released about this new theme park yet, this is definitely one to add to your list when it opens this year!
