What Are Petrol Holding Fees?

Petrol holding fees are temporary charges that are placed on your YouTrip card when paying for petrol. Its sole purpose is to ensure that you have a sufficient amount of funds available in your account to be able to pay for the petrol you’re about to pump.
As the petrol station has no way of knowing how much you’ll pump and doesn’t want to risk the possibility of you pumping more petrol than you can afford, it places a temporary hold on your account for an amount that’s a tad higher than the average cost of filling up a car’s petrol tank

No, you won’t be charged twice for petrol! This pre-authorised transaction is just a temporary hold on your account. The actual charge for the petrol will be processed once you’ve finished pumping, and this will replace the pre-authorisation transaction on your account.
