Is vPost’s shipping reliable? Here’s a full review of my vPost shipping with US and UK vpost addresses – including costs, speed, and value-added services!
Did I tell you how much I hate buying things online? Even though I am aware of the time frame of my parcels’ arrival, I can’t help but manically check my email or phone for notifications. It’s agonising. For this reason alone, I picked vPost shipping as my freight forwarder of choice because they provide SMS updates — other reasons like bill consolidation and price-to-service ratio were secondary to me.
I’ll be extremely frank – I’m sure that there are other freight forwarders like the ones I’ve listed in our best Best US Freight Forwarders and Best UK Freight Forwarders guides, but at the time of writing, only vPost offered SMS updates, or at least it was the only established freight forwarder that provided this service that I needed.
What Did I Buy & How Much Was It?
When I did the vPost step-by-step shipping guide, you may have recalled that I was looking for a monitor to set up my new gaming rig. Here’s the problem: what used to be a well-functioning keyboard dilapidated into a near-useless device because the ‘Q’ and ‘W’ keys stopped functioning as well. And the moment I added that to cart, the rest of my items started to look like they could use a freshening up. So here’s what I got:

Okay, so I wanted to buy myself a whole new setup, but! And this is a very big BUT! If I were to buy everything from Amazon US, the total would rack up to more than S$400. That means I have to pay a 7% GST if it ships into Singapore. Plus, if I were to buy the monitor from Amazon US, it would have cost me US$242 (~S$337.50), a far cry from the deal I found on eBay UK which was going for just £149.99 (~S$260).
Pro tip: By getting the best deals from both US and UK, I kept the total of all of my items from each country to under S$400 — that helped me sidestep paying extra for GST. Shipping isn’t a problem when a freight forwarder like vPost services both countries!

Like I said earlier, the thing I disliked most about buying things online is the wait — and I especially hate having to accept that it’ll just show up on my doorstep based on vague estimates. I want my updates!
Thankfully, as promised, vPost kept me in the loop throughout the process. I got both email and SMS notifications about my parcel whereabouts, which were numerous – a good thing for an anxious anticipator like me. This is a great value-added service.
The timeline above checks out to the advertised vPost shipping duration. In my case, the US package took four working days, while the UK package took five working days.
Something To Note: when vPost ships out your package, they’ll label it according to the package number, not the order number. I had to dig through a couple of submenus on my Amazon and eBay pages to find what the package number was. Also, if the order arrived at vPost’s warehouse as two packages, it will be shipped and charged as two packages.
I only got the option to repack the second package containing the keyboard and headphones but I chose not to because I didn’t want to wait any longer. Yeah, I’m impatient!
How Much Was vPost Shipping?

After applying S$20 off with vPost’s promo, my total came up to S$153.61. For a combined weight of 11.7kg, this all works out to be about S$13.15 per kg. There was also an option for vCare (insurance coverage that I didn’t purchase). As a whole, I felt that the price I paid was pretty decent for the services I got.
How Did The Parcels Arrive At My House?
This monitor package is from the UK warehouse and it arrived at my house with the bottom left corner of the box dented and the top right corner of the box torn. I’m not sure which shipping provider caused this; it could be the Royal Mail Postal Service in the UK, vPost’s warehouse handlers, the airport cargo handlers at either the UK or Singapore or the SingPost handlers.
It’s hard to tell who’s responsible because my package went through so many hands before arriving at my doorstep, and in such a case, photos would have been helpful.
The other items from the US warehouse arrived looking normal — so that’s a relief! I’m also happy to report that despite the box for the monitor looking damaged, it did its job in protecting the monitor inside because when I set it all up, it worked beautifully!
Would I Recommend Using vPost Shipping?
In a heartbeat! While it may be pricier than some of its competitors, you get what you pay for. Timely updates for your packages through email and SMS — and their delivery is prompt. For my packages, it got here even faster than what was advertised.
