From long stretches of white sand splashed in crystal blue waters to gothic masterpieces that are still in the making — the capital of Catalonia has got it all! If you’re a fan of tapas and long hikes past architectural marvels, this guide’s for you.
Just an 11-hour flight away and you’ll be in the bright and brilliant Barcelona. Known for its Flamenco music and dance, as well as its rich architecture dating back centuries, Catalonia boasts home to some of the most captivating, complex, and entertaining stories around the world (read more about that here). If you’re a history geek like me, then it won’t take you a ton of tapas to fall in love with the city’s quirky yet fascinating roots (i.e. how the famed Basilica de la Sagrada Familia came to be — and how cranes and construction crates have become a significant feature of the cathedral!). Plus, because it is nestled on the northeastern coast of Spain, you can expect a picture-perfect beach and buzzy summer parties all year round. If all that made your heart skip a beat, here’s YouTrip’s guide to Spain to help you figure out how much a trip to Barcelona might cost for the budget, moderate, or luxury traveller.
