Keep this guide handy as you plan your foodie adventure to the Island of the gods. We’re walking you through the best bucket-list bites in Bali — from fresh French bakes to good ol’ nasi campur.
Cocktails at rooftop bars, smoothie bowls, grilled corn stands, and delicious barbequed seafood — what are some of your favourite things to have when in Bali? Because I’ve never been (yes, I’ve never been to Bali), I turned to the Bali stans in our marketing team for their best food recommendations on the island. That said, this Bali food guide is by no means an exhaustive list of all the best places to eat in Bali. It is simply a bucket list for foodies starting off on their Bali food adventures. Quintessential bites to form that picture-perfect snapshot of the island, if you will.
However, if you are a Bali veteran with more amazing food recommendations to add to our Bali food guide — please leave them in the comments below, we would love to check them out!

Note this French bakery down for when those pastry cravings inevitably hit you in the middle of the afternoon. 4. Mason

Airy and sophisticated, yet warm and cosy — this casual 100-seater restaurant plays around with the concept of an oxymoron in the best possible ways. Helmed by Australian Head Chef Ben Cross, Mason is all about curating the perfect gastronomical experience using only local and organic ingredients. Our advice? Come hungry because you’re in for a treat. Also, don’t leave without trying their wood-fired flatbread and, to quote YouTrooper Rebecca, “insane roast chicken”.

6. Motel Mexicola

If Frida Kahlo’s 1938 masterpiece, The Frame, came to life and manifested itself as a restaurant in Bali, Motel Mexicola would be it. Vibrant and eclectic, the eatery-slash-club serves up a wide selection of Mexican bites during day and a mean set of crowd-pleasing bangers each night. Before you hit the dance floor though, be sure to fuel up on their spicy chicken and fish tacos because you’re gonna need it!

Of course, if you’re in the mood for other global treats, you’ll find a wide selection of vegan and Western options here too.

Of course, when you’re in Bali, you have to try Babi Guling. After getting stuffed with a spice mixture also known as basa gede, the pig is roasted over an open fire before being served over white rice with vegetables and crisp pork skin. There are many places that serve it in Bali, but a popular store to have it at is Pak Malen.
