Meng Meng Roasted Duck’s signature duck was delicious, but its roasted honey pork stole the limelight with golden brown caramelisation and tender meat.
Did you know? Meng Meng Roasted Duck’s (阿明帝皇鸭) owner, Ah Meng, was an apprentice at the famous Restoran Ya Wang during his teenage years. Since 2003, he started his own roast duck restaurant and opened several more outlets, including one in JB’s Mid Valley Southkey Mall.
Is the signature roast duck any good? Here’s a full food review of Meng Meng Roasted Duck:
Ambience in Meng Meng Roasted Duck
With a brightly-lit modern Chinese restaurant decor and a giant roasted duck statue guarding the entrance, it’s hard to miss Meng Meng Roasted Duck in Mid Valley Southkey Mall.

Similar to Kim Lian Kee Restaurant, Meng Meng Roasted Duck also has an open kitchen behind a viewing glass to see the chefs at work.
Meng Meng Roasted Duck Menu
Meng Meng Roasted Duck’s menu is quite extensive. Apart from its signature Roasted Duck with Chinese Herb, Roasted Honey Pork, and Crispy Roasted Pork, there’s also a variety of rice, porridge, noodles, and a wide selection of stir fry. Click on the menu images to enlarge.

Meng Meng Roasted Duck Food Review
We ordered a small portion of the Roasted Combination (RM55.80 / SGD $18.60) platter, which consisted of the Roasted Duck with Chinese Herbs, Honey Roasted Pork, and Crispy Roasted Pork.

The Roasted Duck with Chinese Herbs was tender and juicy, with a savoury herbal dang gui aroma. Unlike most roasted ducks, Meng Meng’s duck didn’t have an overpowering duck scent, only natural sweetness that could be enjoyed by adults and children alike. The skin wasn’t crispy, but we could let that slide.
Roasted Duck with Chinese Herbs: 4/5

Though the Roasted Duck with Chinese Herbs was good, we were truly blown away by the savoury sweet Roasted Honey Pork. Just look at the golden brown caramelisation! The Roasted Honey Pork was extremely flavourful with sweet honey and as we bit into it, the succulent meat just seemed to melt away.
Roasted Honey Pork: 5/5

Next up: Crispy Roasted Pork. Drenched in Chinese herb sauce in the Roasted Combination platter, the Crispy Roasted Pork’s skin became soggy and lost its crunch. While the meat to fat ratio was perfect, it was a little too salty for us (could be due to the sauce too).
Crispy Roasted Pork: 3/5
No trip to a roast restaurant is complete without eating some soya sauce noodles – it’s the staple to all roast meat!

We ordered some plain Noodles (RM3.80 / SGD $1.30) to go with the roast meat, and it was our best decision for the night.
Unlike plain noodles in other roast meat eateries, Meng Meng Roasted Duck’s plain noodles were actually flat instead of thin and round. The springy texture, combined with savoury soya sauce, was such a simple indulgence that left us craving for more. The noodles were so delicious that we could even eat it on its own!
Noodles: 5/5

I don’t know about you, but we would always order an extra side of omelette to share. Though the Egg Omelette with Shrimp (RM18.80 / SGD $6.30) was thick and fluffy, there was barely a few pieces of shrimp. If you’re an omelette-lover like us, maybe just stick to an omelette with onions to avoid the same disappointment.
Egg Omelette with Shrimp: 2.5/5

I almost forgot to mention a crucial condiment to roast meat – chilli sauce. Meng Meng Roasted Duck’s chilli sauce is easily one of my favourites, because it’s sour and tangy, which complements the savoury, sweet roast meat perfectly.
The viscous chilli didn’t have too much heat, but it still gave very tiny spicy tingles around the mouth – ideal for us to keep eating.
Chilli sauce: 5/5
Will we return to Meng Meng Roasted Duck?
Yes. As I wrap up this review, I’m contemplating if I should make a weekend trip to JB for Meng Meng Roasted Duck’s succulent Roasted Honey Pork. The golden brown caramelisation is just… incredible.
Anyhow, if you’re shopping in Mid Valley Southkey Mall and have a sudden craving for herbal roast duck and delicious noodles, Meng Meng Roasted Duck will definitely leave you satisfied.
