What is Dormancy Fee?
Dormancy fee is generally charged when an account is left inactive for a long period of time.

Why is there a Dormancy Fee?
Dormancy Fee is meant to cover costs of maintaining inactive accounts.

How much is YouTrip’s Dormancy Fee?
SGD $5 per month after a period of 12 consecutive months of inactivity.

How do I avoid the Dormancy Fee?
Simply use your YouTrip card for at least one transaction per year anywhere in the world at any Mastercard accepting merchant, including Singapore.

Here’s five simple ways to transact:

1. Get a drink

No, not a pint! Go to your nearest supermarket and grab a bottle of mineral water. Even if it’s less than a dollar, it’s still considered as one successful transaction! Easy, right?

2. Grab a bite

If you’re looking for a quick meal, just pay with YouTrip. Whether it’s a Value Meal at McDonald’s or a sandwich from the bistro, simply tap your YouTrip card to transact. Done!

3. Go online shopping

When using bank credit or debit cards on overseas shopping sites, you’ll be subjected to poor currency exchange rates and conversion fees. Use your YouTrip card for a transparent transaction and enjoy Wholesale Exchange Rates with zero fees instead.

If you’re paying through PayPal, don’t forget to follow the PayPal Currency Conversion and Exchange Rates Guide 2019 to avoid being overcharged.

4. Take public transportation

Tap and ride! Your YouTrip card is automated for contactless fare payment on MRT and bus rides. No card activation is required and fares remain the same. Note that top ups at General Ticketing Machines are not be supported.

5. Plan a weekend getaway

We all love a short weekend break once in a while, so treat yourself to a quick getaway in Johor Bahru (JB)! While enjoying your mini JB vacay, remember to use your YouTrip card to skip money changer queues and avoid losing money through the notorious Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) charges.

Don’t worry about the weekend jam, learn How to Escape the JB Crowd and you’ll be in JB before you know it. Here’s to the great food, massage, and shopping you deserve this weekend!
