The gyms might be closed but this year can still be your fittest yet with our list of bootcamps and gyms that are taking it outside to keep you in shape!
T’was written in the stars that May the fourth would bring with it a force this year — it was announced that Phase 2’s stricter measures would be re-enforced to curb the spread of what seemed to be a budding wave of COVID-19 cases.
Closure of Gyms & Fitness Studios With Tightened Safe Distancing Regulations
Update: Since 4 May, there have been further tightening of exercise regulations. According to Today Online, multiple groups of two (up to a maximum of 30 participants) will still be allowed for organised programmes and classes, anti-mingling rules apply and groups are to be must three metres apart. For instances where masks have to be removed due to high intensity, only two people are allowed in the same space. For those reasons, a couple of the gyms have since moved their outdoor workouts online till 13 June.
“Higher-risk settings such as indoor gyms and fitness studios will be closed, as people are often unmasked and in close proximity for extended periods in a small enclosed space.” My heart dropped. Did this mean the return of YouTube workout sessions and Zoom yoga meetups? Well, yes, those are available. However, as always, the gyms saw the hand that they were dealt and up-ed the stakes in the form of outdoor bootcamps, gyms and workshops.
