When you pay using the linked DBS debit card, you have to fork out an extra <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"3.25% (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dbs.com.sg\/personal\/cards\/cards-rates-fees.page\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color:#702d82\" class=\"color\">3.25%<\/span><\/a> for the foreign transaction fee. However, they\u2019ve recently launched a promotion that promises to waive foreign transaction fees. It seems pretty good at first glance, but the terms and conditions always disappoint, don\u2019t they? Heads up! We\u2019ve done the nitty-gritty reading so you don\u2019t have to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Promotion ends 31 October 2019<\/li><li>You pay the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"3.25% (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/frankbyocbc.com\/iwov-resources\/pdf\/FRANK%20DC%20FX%20TCs%20Final%20160719.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color:#702d82\" class=\"color\">3.25%<\/span><\/a> foreign transaction fee first, and it&#8217;ll be credited to you as cash back afterwards<\/li><li>You&#8217;ll only receive the cash back 1 month after the promotion ends<br><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>This means that when you shop overseas, you have to calculate and track the 3.25% in whatever you\u2019ve spent to ensure the cash back you receive in the end tallies with your calculations. But again, terms and conditions \ud83d\udc40. In order to achieve this 10% cash back, the following criteria applies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Only airlines, hotels, travel agencies, and railways purchases in foreign currency are eligible<\/li><li>Charge a minimum SGD $800 to your card per month<\/li><li>Cash back capped at SGD $20<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>With the cash back cap, this means that only SGD $200 of your foreign currency purchase qualifies for the SGD $20 cash back. When you spend beyond that, you don\u2019t get anything more. From now till 30 June 2020, users can register their Amex credit cards to enjoy an extra 1% on top of the existing 1.5% cash back on foreign currency spend \u2013 so now a total of 2.5%.
