Caecilia Chu, CEO and Co-Founder of leading Southeast Asian Fintech company YouTrip, has been awarded Tech Leader of the Year 2022 at this year’s Singapore Computer Society (SCS)\u2019s Tech Leader Awards. Read on for the full story.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Caecilia was awarded Tech Leader of the Year at Singapore Computer Society (SCS)\u2019s Tech Leader Awards 2022. The award recognises individuals who have led impactful innovations or breakthroughs in digital technology, and have a track record of outstanding contributions in the infocomm and digital media industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere is no better time to be in technology. The pandemic has shown us that all industries are now embracing digitalisation in a big way. I look forward to continuing to push the envelope of what all of us in the industry could accomplish in the years to come,\u201d said Caecilia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The accolade was presented by Guest-of-Honour and Minister for Communications and Information, Josephine Teo, during the awards ceremony at Shangri-La Hotel on 6 May 2022. The ceremony was graced by key representatives of SCS and fellow industry leaders including Infocomm Media Development Authority, GovTech and the Cybersecurity Agency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amid the pandemic, Caecilia led YouTrip to serve more of the region\u2019s users by establishing a strong foothold in both travel and e-commerce to meet the global shift to online spending. She guided the company to strengthen its payment infrastructure and remodel the app with new features to ensure seamless payments in foreign currency – solidifying YouTrip\u2019s position as the \u2018go-to\u2019 card for consumers\u2019 multi-currency spending online and in-store. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The strong traction in international e-commerce and the accelerated return of travel – with overseas spending in the first quarter of 2022 already registering a more than 400% year-on-year increase – have also driven YouTrip\u2019s transaction volume to exceed pre-pandemic levels, and poised for exponential growth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under her leadership, YouTrip has also advanced its growth by venturing into the B2B payments ecosystem with the launch of YouBiz<\/strong> – its new corporate card dedicated to help companies of all sizes save time and cost on their business expenses. Scheduled to launch in mid-May, YouBiz strengthens the company\u2019s mission to create affordable and convenient borderless financial services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Champion For The Future Of Fintech <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Beyond growing the business, Caecilia is also deeply passionate about developing the fintech ecosystem in the Southeast Asian region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She serves in Singapore FinTech Association’s payments group sub-committee, where she actively engages regulators and industry leaders to shape payment policies and guidelines in the country and broader regional ecosystem. Passionate about nurturing the future fintech workforce for the wider fintech landscape, Caecilia also spearheaded the launch of YouTrip’s Software Engineering Graduate Programme<\/a> in 2021 to provide entry-level engineers with the core knowledge and mentorship to master both domain and technical expertise essential for today’s fintech industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a female tech leader, Caecilia is also active in championing female entrepreneurship. Her role as Chairman of the Action Community for Entrepreneurship’s women founders sub-committee enables her to raise female representation within the technology industry as well as inspire future women technology leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
