Settled in the heart of the city, this Barcelona tapas restaurant is far from understated with its glitzy interior and incredibly fast-paced service. When you’re here, be sure to try both kinds of Sangria (I adored their cava), the Spanish omelette, huevos estrellados (eggs and ham on fries), grilled octopus, codfish, and churros!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hidden in the Gothic Quarter alleys, it’s hard not to feel instantly at home at Bar del Pla. Think friendly service, a quiet relaxed atmosphere, and a good selection of food and drink. Order their crispy oxtail, fish and duck croquette, paella, and beef tartare, but be sure to leave some room for their desserts. You can’t go wrong with both the crema catala\u00f1a and milfulles de crema \u2014 best paired with a glass of wine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the wines are a little on the pricier side here, their wide selection of high-quality dishes more than makes up for it. Reminiscent of San Sebastian, the tiny restaurant overcompensates for its size with its lively infectious atmosphere. Pair your cava or coffee with pan con tomate, iberico secreto, padron peppers, calamari, chorizo tortilla, and the iconic Catalan pasta. End it off on a sweet note with a plate of chocolate truffles with salt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike its plain jane exterior, the restaurant’s beauty is apparent through its lovely interior and warm service.
