3. Trek up the Lempuyang Temple<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

An ancient mountain temple, Lempuyang is one of Bali\u2019s oldest and most significant religious sites (and also one of its tallest). From the peak of the temple, that faraway volcano Mount Agung can again be seen \u2013 but, as with all great things, getting there requires some sacrifice (the trek from the bottom to the highest point takes about 2 hours, and involves more than 1,000 steps). Do consider getting the help of a local guide at the temple, as you\u2019ll get to learn about the history of the Lempuyang as well as keep out of the way of praying Balinese on your visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Visit the water palace, Tirta Gangga<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tirta Gangga means \u2018water from the Ganges\u2019 in Hindi, and was constructed as a royal water palace for the Raja in 1948. The complex is filled with scenic pools, fountains and waterways, some of which were used for swimming and bathing whilst others are filled with fish. And now we get to the main activity of Bali \u2013 beach-bumming. Don\u2019t spend all your sunlight hours at just one beach, though, as the island is filled with a good number of awesome coastal spots. For something a little more unconventional, head to Green Bowl Beach. Located at the bottom of a cliff, Green Bowl boasts carved rock caves on top of the usual white sands and blue waters. But if you\u2019re looking for a party, Double Six Beach and Kuta Beach are more of your place.
