To the average staycationer, you\u2019re probably wondering The Fullerton Bay Hotel charges at least a S$100 more than The Fullerton Hotel, when the latter is already so opulent and luxurious. How could anything top that? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well then, I have news for you…  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just across the road from The Fullerton Hotel is The Fullerton Bay Hotel. Built upon stunning Marina Bay Promenade, it features amazing, relatively close-up views of Singapore\u2019s waterfront where many landmarks, such as Marina Bay Sands, the Esplanade, Marina Barrage and the floating Apple Store<\/a>, are within view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fullerton Bay Hotel\u2019s facade pays homage to its old-school luxury and opulence feel of The Fullerton Hotel, however, look beyond and inside of it, and you’d think that it’s unmistakably a millennial\u2019s interpretation of what luxury and opulence should be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The turn-in to The Fullerton Bay Hotel\u2019s lobby is a simple left turn from the main Collyer Road. True to Fullerton fashion, the minute you step off your cab, the bellboy will ask you for your name, take your luggage, and walk you into the hotel. As he asks for your name, he’s actually talking into the radio, which is connected to the concierge, who will escort you to the main lobby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The said radio is also connected to the front desk staff, who will also greet you by name and ask for your ID to fill up some forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While you\u2019re on the way to the main lobby, you get glimpses of The Clifford Pier restaurant\u2019s magnificent architecture, and the cool vibes of The Landing Point cafe, which is very famous for its high tea buffet. Our check-in was handled by Yugen, who was very nice and efficient with the whole process. As we arrived much earlier than our check-in time, we took the opportunity to explore the rest of the lobby, which is filled with post-millennial luxury pieces. Truly, a sight to behold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tap of the keycard, the blip of the keycard receiver, the light on the keycard receiver turning green, and the soft click of the door latch is a process I could never get sick of. Honestly, the only thing that could beat that is the walk from the airport berth to the aircraft itself, along with the high-pitched whirring of the aircraft engines. Oh, how much I miss that anticipation of a holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyway, I digress. Push onto the heavily weighted and insulated door and we were greeted by swathes of wood, glass, and mirrors. It\u2019s definitely a cosier affair compared to The Fullerton Hotel’s Esplanade Room<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Booking the pictured Deluxe Room on Trip.com will about be ~S$650++ a night, which you can then use your SingapoRediscovers vouchers<\/a> (SRV) to offset the amount via a generated promo code. Paying with your YouTrip card will grant you an additional stackable 5% discount on top of the SRV. Assuming you use all S$100 of your SingapoRediscovers vouchers and YouTrip card, the total amount would work out to be ~S$525.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s easy to see why this is slightly pricier compared to The Fullerton Hotel; we get a balcony view of the Marina Bay Promenade, with many of Singapore landmarks in full view, and we also get to make ourselves comfortable outside with a sofa and coffee table to enjoy our morning coffee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The room is very well-endowed with amenities; the same tablet with the range of services, most notably, the pillow menu that’s available in The Fullerton Hotel is also present here in The Fullerton Bay Hotel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minibar area is also quite the same, only the fanciest TWG teas and Nespresso capsules are here \u2013 all of which are complimentary. The rest of the minibar items, and the beverages in the fridge, are chargeable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wardrobe is a welcome surprise. Not only did we find the usual bathrobes and other doodads, the folks at The Fullerton Bay Hotel have also included a yoga mat and umbrella. When I saw the yoga mat, my mind instantly went towards doing a warrior pose on the balcony for that morning yoga sesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Okay, let\u2019s start off the bathroom with the bath robes. This stuff is felt-lined and made for the gods, because it is oh-so-comfy. Can you imagine walking out the bathroom after a hot bath in the tub, with your hair just dried from the provided hair dryer (which is really strong, by the way) the bathrobe that cossets you with its soft felt? I know I can, and it\u2019s a whole vibe to live vicariously through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, there\u2019s a tub, and yes, there\u2019s a window, and yes, that window has a retractable blind that\u2019s electrically operated. That window actually outlooks the room, which outlooks the Marina Bay Promenade, which is why you see a lot of Instagram posts of The Fullerton Bay Hotel<\/a> with this shot. Our particular room overlooked The Clifford Pier and Gin Parlor underneath, which is, in my opinion, just as good as the view of Marina Bay Sands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fanciest Balmain toiletries, a TV placed above the bathtub, and a loofah in the shower. Naturally, there\u2019s a stool in the separated shower booth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking of the shower, it\u2019s the same rain shower or handheld shower system and I\u2019m happy to report that the water flow is equal in strength. If you enjoyed the shower in The Fullerton Hotel, you\u2019ll definitely enjoy this one too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s also a very interesting addition to the toilet: a clockwork-themed weighing scale. It\u2019s quite fancy and accurate, because you\u2019ll definitely be gaining weight after going for the sumptuous ala carte breakfast buffet at The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore\u2019s restaurant, La Brasserie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Brasserie is definitely a step up from The Fullerton Hotel’s Town Restaurant in terms of decor and ambience. In fact, I\u2019d go as far to say that La Brasserie\u2019s decor reminds me of Jade Restaurant in The Fullerton Hotel because of the high ceilings, huge windows, and very, very tall curtains. If Jade is the East, then La Brasserie is the West. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Line buffets are a thing of the past with COVID-19 restrictions, and La Brasserie has clearly been designed and engineered as a sit-down restaurant. The ala-carte buffet system works quite well in favour of La Brasserie, because while you wait for the food to be served, you can enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding bay. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To that end, the menu is largely the same as Town Restaurant\u2019s ala carte breakfast buffet, with a few interesting additions. The changes are most notably, the addition of a gluten-free and vegetarian menu, as well as more premium ingredients in its selection of western breakfast items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We ordered small portions for everything, so that we could try more dishes. Having said that, there were a few standout breakfast items that stood out to us:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fresh Farmed Poached Eggs with Sourdough, Norwegian Smoked Salmon & Hollandaise: <\/strong>Easily my favourite breakfast dish. If I didn\u2019t have to try every other dish for this review, this was the one I would have seconds or even thirds for. The poached egg was done to perfection, the smoked salmon went really well with the hollandaise, which adds a tangy and buttery punch to a very simple meal. This is simple soul food for my inner white girl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Truffle Mushroom Sandwich:<\/strong> Continuing the theme of simple breakfasts is the Vegetarian Truffle Mushroom Sandwich. They use soft, wholemeal bread which is suitable for a braceface like me, whilst still appealing to the carb-conscious. The mushrooms have a slight, but noticeable aroma of truffle, and it\u2019s absorbed by the bread and veggies in the sandwich. Strangely, the accompanying hash browns also have a tinge of truffle in them. Very fancy indeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Singapore Laksa: <\/strong>If you want something more savoury for your sophisticated taste buds, I\u2019m very happy to report that the Singapore Laksa is just as good as the one in The Fullerton Hotel Singapore\u2019s Town Restaurant, with many ingredients coming together to give a rich, savoury, and herb-y experience. The one thing that ties everything together is surprisingly the quail eggs, which is small enough to make an impression with the rich gravy, but not enough to take away from it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nasi Lemak: <\/strong>This is the same deal as The Fullerton Hotel’s Town Restaurant. Its fragrant steamed coconut rice, sweet and spicy sambal, and otah with generous chunks of mackerel left me wanting for more. It\u2019s masterfully done, and will appeal to whoever is seeking a more Asian breakfast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lantern is The Fullerton Bay Hotel\u2019s rooftop bar, with a selection similar to the Gin Parlour below, along with a few twists. We actually have a full review lined up, where we tried their signature Imperial Berry Mojito, Red Lantern drink, Sweet Passion Sling, and Lobster Roll, so keep your eyes peeled here!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As mentioned in the introduction, The Landing Point is where the high tea buffet is held in The Fullerton Bay Hotel. According to staff, the high tea is very popular and is usually fully booked, so we decided to inch ourselves in for a spot. The Landing Point’s high tea deserves a separate article on its own, because the combination of savouries, sweets, beverages and atmosphere is too much to cram into this article. When we walked out of the lift, we were greeted with the pool area and the Lantern rooftop bar right in the background. The said background also has the Marina Bay waterfront, making it kind of a two-for-one deal in terms of fancy vibes and views.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Okay, so the pool is not necessarily an infinity pool, but all the better for it, because it\u2019s a bigger size than The Fullerton Hotel’s, and it\u2019s in a regular shape. This means that all the seats and guests are evenly spaced out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The part of the pool that\u2019s infinity are the two jacuzzis on the side, which, I should warn you, are highly contested among guests. It\u2019s not hard to see why, as they\u2019re relatively private, since they\u2019re separated from the main pool, and because it\u2019s an infinity pool, it\u2019s at the edge of the building. This gives you unparalleled views of the Marina Bay waterfront. That being said, your booking for the pool slot does not guarantee you a slot in the jacuzzi, so be alert when it\u2019s empty!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gym is smaller in comparison, with a maximum capacity of only six people because of COVID-19 restrictions. There are socially-distanced treadmills, ample weights for strength training, and a cable machine multiple exercises \u2013 but then again, with such amazing facilities in the hotel, I doubt you\u2019ll have enough time to hit the gym! (Yes, we didn\u2019t manage to shed those excess calories either\u2026)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Staycay by The Fullerton Bay Hotel<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Fullerton Bay Hotel is decidedly a millennial\u2019s idea of the finest old school luxury, adding modern elements such as clean lines, expansive windows, high ceilings to further elevate the feeling of luxury. This translates well into the rooms, where glass, wood, and mirrors work together to give a very posh, lifestyle feel; whilst the added amenities such as the yoga mat, umbrella, felt-lined bathrobes, and Balmain toiletries justify its higher price compared to The Fullerton Hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The breakfast is also just as delicious as The Fullerton Hotel’s, plus the posh atmosphere really tops things off.
