Did I tell you how much I hate buying things online? Even though I am aware of the time frame of my parcels’ arrival, I can’t help but manically check my email or phone for notifications. It\u2019s agonising<\/em>. For this reason alone, I picked vPost shipping as my freight forwarder of choice because they provide SMS updates \u2014 other reasons like bill consolidation and price-to-service ratio were secondary to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s the problem: what used to be a well-functioning keyboard dilapidated into a near-useless device because the ‘Q’ and ‘W’ keys stopped functioning as well. Okay, so I wanted to buy myself a whole new setup, but! And this is a very big BUT! If I were to buy everything from Amazon US, the total would rack up to more than S$400. That means I have to pay a 7% GST if it ships into Singapore. Plus, if I were to buy the monitor from Amazon US<\/span><\/a>, it would have cost me US$242 (~S$337.50), a far cry from the deal I found on eBay UK which was going for just \u00a3149.99 (~S$260). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pro tip:<\/strong> By getting the best deals from both US and UK, I kept the total of all of my items from each country to under S$400 \u2014 that helped me sidestep paying extra for GST. Shipping isn’t a problem when a freight forwarder like vPost services both countries!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like I said earlier, the thing I disliked most about buying things online is the wait \u2014 and I especially hate having to accept that it’ll just show up on my doorstep based on vague estimates. I want my updates!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
